More dolls are up! I am still sorting and deciding what dolls I wish to keep, and send on to new dolly homes. Some of this is hard, as I love the dolls in my collection, but alas, like all doll collectors, I need room and have some excess bills I would like to take care of.
Up first today is my Special event tiny doll by Leekeworld, 'Rainy'. She was ordered from Denver Doll Emporium last year during the Feb. 16th- March 20th 2011 event, Basic skin, factory faceup, body blush, eyes, and wig, are included as well as the little dress she is shown in. The wig does not stay on the head tightly, I meant to get another wig for her but never found one that I thought would look good. Above is a special Christmas card I designed this year in honor of my husband, and the Shriner's Children's hospitals. My husband is an active Shriner at Acca Temple located in Richmond, Va. He belongs to the Motor Patrol unit, and drives a go-cart in different parades. I also work with the Shriners and we love donating our time to volunteer at different functions and events to raise money for the children...which is rewarding and worthwhile, and an organization that is very dear to my heart.

I also am auctioning off some kit items such as a Santa porcelain doll kit by Petite People Plus, as well as some 1:12 scale Bespaq armchairs which are quite lovely, and are leftover souvenir stock from our Christmas Yuletide dinner event when our shop was open. I am also cleaning out my model horse magazines in two lots- one lot of magazines is from the United Kingdom and only available by subscription to the united states. It is about the same size as the old Nutshell News or American Miniaturists- only smaller. If you collect model horses, viewing the articles from the British collecting standpoint is quite interesting. I have one of my classic custom Arabians on auction as well.

More progress on the custom vanity...

Just a few pics to show the progress on the vanity custom piece I am working on. I have lined the vanity's drawer with blue silk. I am undecided right now to leave it with just the bottom lined, or to put ruching or the sides of the drawer lined as well. (I really hate to sew, so it would require me to stitch a long piece that is only about 1/2 inch wide or less, to make it look like I wish. blah, sewing.) lol. I used the faux diamond necklace from the gown Ivy is wearing to show how the silk shows up in this piece...

Custom Bespaq project....what I'm working on

On my workbench has been a custom project...I have adored French furniture with ormalu gilding, intricate carving, and the Louis XV and the Louis XVl style for ages...so I decided to try my hand when I found the correct shade of gold. I have some books on french furniture, with the terms, history, and it is fascinating to read about. One of the most versatile pieces of the large scale Bepsaq is the swan vanity. This item is in 1:4 scale, shown with Ivy Jordan (15 1/2 inches high) With the mirror left out of the slot, the item turns into a petit bureau plat, or desk. I still have more details to do on this item, since the gilding is finished, such as lining the drawers, and adding some embellishments to the stool. In my spare time I have been trying to research the furniture in the palaces of Versailles, Rambouillet, Trianon, and the terminology they used for different pieces.

The gold vanity stool will be listed in our Ebay store Pumpkin Hill Studios under the new catagory of 'Custom Bespaq' so look for the vanity soon, when I finish it. I will probably also attempt working on some armchairs and swan chairs as well, when I have finished this piece.

New items up today & yesterday. Going thru the stock, I was looking for some of these curios that were intact and immediately useable. Bespaq at one time manufactured these wonderful curios for display of miniature porcelains, tea sets, with the antique doll collector in mind- I have a couple of these I use for my miniature tea set collections, and they are wonderful with the dolls in a tea setting. I have listed some of my artisan creations onmy Etsy Store Pumpkin Hill Studios . First, is my Miniature 1:12 scale Steampunk Tea table and I have included here on my blog new updated pics! I made this item a couple of months ago, and meant to list it, but have to admit I was somewhat attached to it- it was the first time in a long time I had had time to honestly create in 1:12 scale again, and I loved the piece. Now that I have other artisan items I am working on, it is time for this item to be enjoyed by a collector. Price on the Steampunk miniature tea table is $49.99 plus shipping.

Item comes with the tea table, which has a birds' eye maple veneer tabletop, handlaid by me. Has a high gloss finish in keeping with the look for Steampunk. Copper tea cannister sits on a clear 'tank' with gears and 'hot boiling' water simulated liquid, does not open. A 'stream' of liquid comes out of the spout of the tea cannister and is poured into one of the teacups on the etagere, which holds pastries and teacups and a spoon on its acrylic clear shelves, with gears . Etagere, pastries, are also made by me. Accessories also include two glass cannisters with knives and forks glued, and three spoons loose to place as you wish on the table. The teacup holder has white teacups adhered to it, and is made by me as well with a gear base.

The Halloween Goofy Pumpkin Ornament is something I made recently, when experimenting with paperclay. I love love working with paperclay. The ornament comes with a 4 inch black ribbon that can be adjusted, attached to a brass loop ring on the top of the ornament. Bottom of the ornament also has a flat opening, so you can place the goofy pumpkin on a flat stick or dowel to place in a flowerpot, or within a pumpkin if you wish.

As most of you know, King William Miniatures & Collectibles is located in Virginia. I am posting this August 26, 2011 as we are having weather advisorys here in Virginia for Hurricane Irene. Last night we were under severe thunderstorm watch, alot of rain and flooding. Tuesday Virginia had an earthquake- the highest on the scale since 1897. I am posting this for all of my customers of our main website and our Ebay store Pumpkin Hill Studios that if you email me, I may be a little slow in answering during the storms this weekend. I am currently working on getting orders out this morning before the storm hits, if this is not possible, they will be posted next week at USPS & UPS. Hat vanity in 1:4 scale, walnut finish- only flaw is the mirror has come unglued from frame, has a couple of back thin frame pieces that need glue repair as well.

One of the really special pieces I rarely put up at full price is the 1:3 scale Edwardian armchair and settee, shown in walnut with taupe upholstery and an American Girl Kit doll for size comparisons. These pieces are usually so fragile, it is hard to find them intact, however, these 1:3 scale items are intact and have low starting bids! These were used as display items. I am also offering one in 1:4 scale as well, shown with Ellowyne.

Up for auction as shown- a Lovely 1:3 scale walnut hat vanity. When assembled, measures 28 inches high 17 inches wide, and 6 inches deep. Perfect for your American Girls, My Twinn, SD and MSD sized ball jointed dolls, antique dolls, etc. measuring 17-24 inches in height. I have one I use with both my MSD's and my American Girls and it is wonderful. This one can be customized because the shelf part has split away from the other half intact.
1:6 Cheval mirror- mirror has come off its pinnail hinges, and support bar needs glue repair, walnut finish.
1:6 Mahogany highboy- beautiful piece for your Barbie or fashion doll collection. Also works well with 8-10 inch dolls like Madame Alexander and Tiny Kitty. One leg needs glue repair.

Also I am listing this handpainted Crackle glass votive lamp, made in Romania as well. Sadly, I am stuffed to the gills, and hubby and I have decided to clear out items out of our home that simply are not used that much anymore. It was a wedding present years ago, but we'd like for it to go to someone who can use it. Looks lovely with a flickering votive in it, on a tea table.

We have alot alot more auctions. I am beginning to go through the boxes of display items from the shop, so many of these items will not have a box. Our RV camper is packed to the gills in the bay, and I nee d to clean it out before July! So please watch our Ebay auction link in your favorites!

In Honor of the Royal Wedding....tea anyone?

In Honor of the Royal wedding between Prince William & Kate Middleton, (now the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge) I decided to post some pics of the happy couple & my commemorative teacup set which was made when Prince William was born. It seems like only yesterday that Diana herself was walking down the aisle, how time flies. I was sixteen when I watched the first Royal wedding. It is wonderful to see such two happy people in love.

Above, my own 'tiara' from my wedding, Swarvorski- Kate's was the 'real' deal...lol

At this point I should explain a bit about the name of my business, King William Miniatures. I have to say this is a happy coincidence, but no, I did not name it after Prince William, but the county in Virginia where I reside, King William County. It was given a charter by King William and Queen Mary of England in the early? 1700's or late 1690's...(before the revolution) and we as a county have the distincition of having one of the oldest working/functioning courthouses in the USA. Many of the old families have charters for their land/farms or plantations, such as the one down the road, called Queensfield. It is a lovely place to live....

On Tuesday, April 5th, I presented a program for the Capital doll club at their regular stated meeting. I had been asked by Linda Labelle to do the program, and the members were excited about it. Many people know that I am one of the few dealers who specialize in the large scale Bespaq, and have worked with Bespaq in the design and manufacture of my own pieces for my company, King William Miniatures. I have to say it is one of the most exciting and stimulating parts of the doll business- bringing a piece to life and seeing people enjoy and appreciate your work. I took a few samples of my work, the line itself, and also a few rare pieces. The club met at Westminister Canterbury, a retirement community near Lakeside, in Richmond.

I spoke briefly a little on the history of Bespaq, and its owner, Pit Ginsburg, and the quirky way I came to design my wingchairs in 1:6 scale, and my love of doll collecting. I had brought various samples of dolls to show the scale comparison and the wide ability of 'play' factor that large scale Bespaq has, depending on your size & type of doll. The members had fun, and I have to say, so did I!

Capital Doll Club Show -February 26th, 2011

I wanted to give a little report on our blog here of the great show we attended at the Showplace, on February 26, 2011. This show is usually hosted by the Capital doll club of Virginia, and what a great show for us it always is! The Va. Fashion Doll Club (my Barbie club ) had a couple of tables there- with members selling some of their dolls to donate for club

expenses, next to our King William Miniatures booth. The show is usually on the same weekend at the Showplace center, located in Mechanicsville, Va, as the Antique show and sale.

This show is unique because of the huge variety of dolls available- Madame Alexander- antique, vintage, Barbie, Fashion Royalty, miniature dolls, you name the doll and they were there. Some talented doll artsts who make reproduction dolls were there as well. I have been asked by one of the members, Linda LaBelle to give a presentation on the special large scale Bespaq we carry at on e of their meetings in April, which I am looking forward to.

I wish to thank everyone for their support as we finish moving the shop inventory & displays back to our home office, I greatly appreciate your thoughts and prayers. I am making an honest effort to plan to be present at more of the doll shows & miniature shows in the Virginia area, now that I will have more time with the business back online exclusively.

Miniature 1:12 scale 'Steampunk' tea table

Welcome to my new project! I have had this in the making for a while now. My miniature 1:12 scale steampunk tea table. I have been fascinated with steampunk lately, and this project came into being after about a week of work. If you look closely at the tea table, you can see the 'hot' water pouring into the teacup. I handlaid the birds eye maple veneer on the table, and stained it. The cup rack is made by me, as well as the teacup/bread etegere, and the mini breads and croissants are also created by me as well. I still have a few touches to put on this piece, but will be making more steampunk items in the future. Doll is from my personal collection, created by Sherri Colvin! We now have a new shop on Etsy.com ! I am going to start offering some of my artist creations in miniature on Etsy, under our studio name, Pumpkin Hill Studios!

Here are a couple of items we are offering-

This is an oldfashioned 1:6 scale stationary set- suitable for dolls such as Barbie, Fashion Royalty, or French Fashion dolls such as Huret, Jumeau, & so on. Comes with four loose envelopes, 1 stack of envelopes tied with ribbon, 2 stacks of stationary tied with ribbon, and one sealed envelope/letter with wax seal. Ribbon is silk.

Our shop closing today....

The shop closed today at 3 p.m., & it was our last day open as a brick & mortar shop.... it was more difficult than I realized to close the doors on the shop. I will miss getting up early in the morning and going in before anyone else- I usually would arrive around 7-8 am depending on the amount of things I needed to get done in the morning. The shop consumed a great deal of me, and time, but it was worth it, & I wish to thank all of those wonderful people who would come in just to see what was new, or ask advice, or buy that special item for their dollhouse or that wonderful chair or table for their special doll. It has been a priviledge & a blessing to work with such marvelous people in the dollhouse & doll venue.

I wish everyone to know that I will still be offering our products online at our website King William Miniatures, & also our Ebay store Pumpkin Hill Studios . Though our physical shop is closing, I will still be available in my studio at Pumpkin Hill, & I hope to get back to creating the miniatures & artist items again. Please be sure to watch this blog, as I will be posting pics of those items and new items & additions to our catalog. This is a new path, a new adventure, and another oppurtunity for Lisa to blaze another trail....lol...which I'm looking forward to.

Shop closing January 28th

Hi all. It is with great sadness and regret that we will be closing the shop end of King William Miniatures & Collectibles January 28th, 2011 at 3 pm. The business will not be closing completely, we will just be back to online service and you will see us at shows such as the Capitol Doll Club show on February 26th,

Our new hours until the shop closes its doors are 10 am to 3pm. Please be sure to call ahead as I sometimes do not open like today, because of illness & cannot make it in. You may always email me at kingwilliamminiatures@verizon.net or call our number at 2667676
We no longer accept credit cards or debit cards- only cash or check at this time.
On a personal note, here, my thoughts....
Though it is sad when a shop closes, I look at this as another new beginning in the business history of King William Miniatures, and hope to expand into other venues with this hobby, like my passion for the large scale furniture, Rement, and the artisan quality of miniatures in 1:12 scale. The shop has been extremely draining on both my personal time and ability to create the pieces I used to create, and my life took a direction I did not foresee when opening the business doors of the shop. So though I regret it, I am looking forward to some of the peace and tranquility to create and design, and work on a couple of projects I have on my list, while helping in my husbands' boiler company LeoPaul & Associates, with his invoicing and admin work in the home office.Luckily, his business is taking off and I wish to help him achieve all the success he can and take his company to the next level.

I found these beautiful Wedgewood Williamsburg Potpourri Etruria & Barlaston teacups & saucers, quite lovely. Many people forget we carry more than dolls and dollhouse miniatures, but also Tea themed items for dolls and children, tiny teasets in the Ruetter Porcelain, but large as well so little girls can enjoy the charms of tea parties just like their mothers. These full size teacups and saucers were too lovely to resist, and right now we have them on Ebay in our Auctions with a low starting bid or $9.99 or BIN at $14.99. I also have some damaged large scale Bespaq on auction as well, and will be listing more this week.

We also have some items not doll or miniature related, that I am cleaning out of my personal wardrobe- Etienne Aigner shoes and purses, barely worn. Our new items in the shop have expanded into antiques...one of the newest items is this adorable antique Children's Chaise lounge, estimated date of this item is 1899-1900, late Victorian era, maybe Edwardian. It has been reupholstered with a lovely cream striped fabric, in mahogany finish with a swan neck on the backrest. I have staged it with our Christmas line of items, and an adorable Melissa & Doug Westie plush dog. The chaise measures 19 1/2 inches high, 37 inches long, and 14 inches deep, perfect for your large antique Jumeaus, Bebes, and Kestners, or your 70-80 cm BJD's. New Christmas in July ornaments!

You may have noticed that we are decorating for Christmas in July! I couldn't resist....especially when our new dollhouse/doll/miniature themed ornaments arrived last week! It has been on my list to do to show collectors how to display their collections, whatever they may collect to advantage in their homes. I have done this for many years myself, and thought what better way than to showcase the shop with some of our antiques, linens, and dolls plus the merchandise!? Since we had a small amount of the ornaments arrive, I used two small trees, and our foldable table to create depth and height where needed. The trees are 2 ft and 4 ft high. The large doll is dressed in an antique dress off of Ebay that was for a child in the early 1900's, she is from my own collection- we call her the 'Big Amanda' doll after my daughter Amanda. The Westie stuffed dog is Melissa & Doug and is for sale in our shop & on our website and Ebay store. Baskets hold the excess porcelaine ornaments.

I have kept to a main color palette for summer-using cream, white, pastel pink & blues, as burgundy, gold, green would have been far too heavy for summer decor. The Big Amanda doll's hat and dress mixes into the cream/white palette, with shades of pastel blue and pink, with gold and silver accents, which the angel ornaments are used for. The draping is a cream damask tablecloth that is quite large, and covers the stackable folding tables and display unit the trees sit on. The picture carries the Victorian era theme over and compliments the display perfectly- I did this display in an hour- hanging the ornaments took me the longest. This display it is possible to leave up in your display/doll area/room all year, and display your finest pieces or ornaments. The tree can be changed for seasons, themes, or holidays, and add interest to your room or display area with the soft white lights on the trees. I chose the Victorian era as my focal theme as I can do so much with this decor period. Doll or miniature trees add a timeless look, and if you have as many ornaments & dolls as I do, pressing them into service for decorating the tree is the next step to getting them out of those boxes!

Also, we are beginning to carry Playscale Houseworks dollhouse components, such as Windows, doors, shingles. They fly off our shelves quicker than I can keep them stocked! If you are looking for these components, and need to order them, always feel free to email me at kingwilliamminiatures@verizon.net if you need to order and we don't have them in stock. Shown above is the Traditional Hung window, shown with both a Fashion Royalty BeWitching Luchia (12 inches high) & an Ivy 'Vee' Jordan doll (15 inches high). These windows will mesh with the larger sized dolls such as Tonner, Gene, and so on. Shown next is the Houseworks Playscale 'Jamestown' door, which has plexi windows on the side, with the crown molding frame, prehung. Shown with Happy Family Barbie Grandma. I have also shown her with the Houseworks Playscale Palladian door and matching window. These doors are not tall enough to accomadate Fashion Royalty or Silkstone Barbie, but they work great for dioramas, and playline Barbies will usually fit in them, if they are 10 1/2 inches high.

I have some Houseworks Playscale building components listed, and hopefully will be ordering some more! Shown are the 1:6 Scale Houseworks Crossbuck door, which is a trifle short for Barbie, at its height of 11 1/8 inches high, by 4 5/8 inches wide. The window, however, is a different story in that it is perfect-- for not only Barbie, Fashion Royalty, but Gene/Tonner dolls as well! Tradional doublehung window has a plexi insert that is removeable for staining, and fits and opening 4 inches wide, x 8 inches high, x 3/8 inches deep.

I hope to be able to get the playscale Palladian windows and doors in, as well as the Playscale Jamestown door, which is very impressive. Crossbuck door retails for $19.99 in our Ebay store, and Traditional hung windows retail for $9.98. We will combine shipping at no extra charge if purchasing multiple items!

Whew! The last few weeks of heavy moving, painting, construction, wiring, and also packing & processing orders between one shop and another has been hectic to say the least!!!!!

Now that things are somewhat back to 'normal'(not completely, you should see our storage/office area-LOL!) We are gearing up and are now open during our regular hours- Tuesday thru Saturday, 10 am to 5pm! We hope to be open later on Friday evenings at this new shop location- until 7pm on Fridays is the plan...this will allow customers to eat dinner at the most excellent Tea room Feathernester's next door, or go have a bbq at Va. BBQ in the same complex of Lakeside Towne Center, where we are located. Our new shop window is right next door to Feathernester's, and the perfect ambiance before coming to shop for minis!

I wish to thank all of my Facebook Fans...and it is truly amazing how much everyone watches our page! This morning when I logged on, we had 99 fans, which truly amazed me...I never knew that everyone enjoyed watching our page this much, or the process of what goes into a miniature dollhouse shop's expansion. I feel very grateful to have so many wonderful miniature enthusiasts as our main support, and truly blessed. Please to all of our fans of our website, blog, and shop, thankyou from the bottom of my heart, this truly touched me...I had out of fun posted to see if we could get 100 fans by the end of today, and lo and behold....we have 107!!

More uploads today- these pics are not what the shop looks like now, but today we had the phone guy in to run wire from the front ot the back of the shop/shipping room , and Chris wired the counter so we could have switches to turn onour shop window lights and the display case lights. During all of this, I even had time to work on a small kitbash cottage with paperclay- check my personal fanpageunder Lisa Neault on Facebook to see thepics, and let me know what name you think the cottage should be named! I have done and sold a Wisteria cottage, but this cottage looks more cozy and stone like...I have toyed with the idea of Shamrock cottage, but the work of punching all of those shamrocks for landscaping is daunting!! Then ivy or vine cottage struck me, like the little Vine Cottage the Borrowers livedin in the book, Borrowers Aloft. Let me know what you think! The Heavy work on our move underway!

The move with the heavy work of moving the store displays, is all well underway. Above are some photos of the move of the largest item inthe shop, the 12 ft French armoire...shown are my husband Chris, my dad, and two friends, Ed & Casey, who helped us move the displays and this large armoire which we use to display large items such as dolls, and the large scale furniture. (It was originally a display for Nordstrom's that I found in a liquidation warehouse sale). When stood next to the partition door in the partition wall we installed, it looked fabulous. My dad & husband Chris had found the antique louvered door at a habitat sale, where used fixtures were sold, and it fitted perfectly with the armoire''s heighth. My intention is create an atmostphere that will be both inviting and pleasant both for the dollhouse miniaturist & the doll collector.

I have alot more pics of the new store location so far, which looks alot fuller now, but am working from a laptop until our counters are wired together with the glass display cases. Until then, enjoy some of the finished shop window display pictures, we are getting ready for Easter and hope to be open officially by March 27th? is the goal....

The shop window displays a wide variety, of scale items- fromthe largest Bespaq piano & matching chair we carry for 1:3 scale dolls (18-24 inches or for bjd's 55-60cm high) to the teacup & jar scenes (I do commissions)to our miniature 1:12 scale roombox boutique with some items we carry to furnish miniature shops, & also teasets for children, and adult collectors & dolls. Strewn amongst the labyrinth is Easter eggs and bunnies, and the fairies on the drop space below. One of my pleasures has always been to mix in my collection with a variety of dolls and items, since I myself love to decorate my home with dolls and miniatures, and child sized items.

The big porcelain doll with the peach hat on- our 'Big Amanda doll' (named after daughter Amanda) is wearing an antique child's toddler dress fromthe early 1900's, and also carries a basket of bird's eggs...I love antique clothing, and this is another indulgence I use forour window displays.

Moving to a larger store!

Has been a very long time since I last wrote here on the King William Minis blog! Boy, time sure flies!

We have always wanted to enlarge the shop, as we have small space for display, shipping, storage, and so on. Since our lease ends in March, we spoke with the landlord who was enthusiastic at our interest in the former small bridal shop located next to Feathernester's tea room. With some more negotiating, we ended up being able to start work on the move to our new shop, Suite B, 6116 Lakeside Avenue, one door down from us!

1200 square feet is the new shop, and it comes with a display window on the sidewalk. We've already had customers from Feathernester's tea room looking at the wonderful displays.

Chris & my dad finished the partition wall to the office/shipping space in the back and have hung the antique louvered door we found at a discount warehouse. Walls have been painted an eggshell white, but still alot of work to do!
